EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps people heal from trauma and other distressing life experiences. When something painful or overwhelming happens, our brains sometimes struggle to process it fully, leaving memories “stuck” in ways that continue to trigger emotional distress. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories so they can be integrated in a healthier way, reducing the intensity of emotional reactions and allowing healing to take place.
During EMDR, we use guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to support the brain’s natural healing process. This approach does not erase memories—it helps them lose their emotional charge so you can think about the past without feeling as though you are reliving it. Over time, clients often experience relief from symptoms such as anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or hypervigilance, and report feeling more grounded, calm, and in control.
I am certified in EMDR and have seen the powerful impact it can have for individuals recovering from trauma. Whether you are processing a single event or ongoing experiences, EMDR can be a valuable part of your healing journey.
